Llanidloes Litter Champion flies the flag for Tidy Wales Week

Nadine enjoying the view over the Severn, then waging war on litter on the bank
Nadine Janczur is full of praise for Llanidloes. She says,” I love it here, there is no crime and people are very friendly.”
She particularly enjoys walking along the river Severn in Llanidloes, which is one of the glories of the town, but has become very despondent about the littering caused by a handful of people. Even before becoming a Keep Wales Litter Champion last year, Nadine was regularly picked up litter in the town. Now she is even more fanatical.
“I can’t understand why people drop litter when a litter bin is only 10 metres away. It’s disgusting to walk amongst empty take away wrappers and discarded cans and I hate seeing it thrown down the river bank at the Gro.”
Sue Newham, Keep Wales Tidy officer for North Powys, says, “I visited the Gro with Nadine and was very sad to see the amount of litter spoiling this lovely area. The good news is that Tidy Wales Week is coming up from 17th-23rd September and people across Wales are invited to get out and tidy up their community.
I am planning a clean up along the river bank at the Gro on Thursday 20th September, so please contact me if you want to get involved. The litter pick will start at 10am and Keep Wales Tidy will provide all the equipment.”
Keep Wales Tidy can support you to tackle “grot spots”. Contact Sue Newham on 07766 757145 or sue.newham@keepwalestidy.org to find out more. You can also visit the Keep Wales Tidy website at www.keepwalestidy.org
